Dr. Shakila is a highly accomplished dental professional. She has a Bachelor of Science from Salisbury University in Maryland and a Master of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular biology from Towson University. After completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Howard University, she participated in a dental mission in Jamaica, helping the underserved community. She also participated in Give Kids A Smile, helping elementary-age children have access to oral health care and dental needs. Dr. Powell then completed a year of a General Practice Residency at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY before continuing her pediatric dental specialty training at the Tufts School of Dental Medicine where she received an award for her research on silver diamine fluoride (SDF).
Dr. Shakila is a highly accomplished dentist who is dedicated to providing quality dental care for her patients. As a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), the New Jersey Dental Society, and the Monmouth-Ocean County Dental Society, she has a wealth of experience in treating patients of all ages.
Her true passion lies in caring for and treating children, which is why she is so excited to join Shore Children’s Dental Care. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
